Using wireless sensors to monitor the temperature in coolers and freezers.
You have invested a lot of time and money in your food preparation business. A lot of that investment is from the purchase and operation of your food storage freezers and coolers, as well as the food that you keep stocked in them. What would happen if there was an extended power outage or a malfunction with one of your coolers when nobody was there to check it? How much food could you lose, and how would that affect your ability to prepare meals for your loyal customers?
With Monnit WIT Wireless Temperature Sensors you can have 24/7 monitoring of your freezers and coolers and enjoy the piece of mind that comes from knowing you will be immediately notified if the temperature is the slightest bit above your set threshold. You can also add multiple people to your notifications, so your maintenance or repair person can be notified immediately as well. You can avoid costly food spoilage and potential freezer damage by catching issues quickly before the issue has a chance to escalate.
Using Wireless Sensors to Monitor Sump-Pumps

Basement water problems can be caused by a multitude of issues ranging from high ground-water tables to poor or clogged exterior drainage systems. When these problems arise, it is common to have a sump pump and pit installed in a home or facility to remove water as it accumulates. However, pump motors can burn out and pump triggers can stick. How do you know if there is an issue with your pump before it's to late?
Monnit provides a cost effective way to monitor the water level in a sump pit as well as sump pump operation. By using a Monnit WIT wireless water sensor at the sump pit, you can place the sensor contacts in the pit to create a forewarning system. If the water reaches this level you can be immediately notified via email, text message or phone call.
You can also monitor the pump for activity. By placing a Monnit WIT wireless activity sensor on the pump tubing, it can sense vibration from the pump motor. This allows you track how often the pump is turning on to remove water and can work in conjuction with the water sensor to alert you if water reaches a certain level and the pump has not turned on. Now you can know if there is an issue with the pump motor or trigger before any water damage is caused. There are no wires to worry about, and the installation process is amazingly simple. « View More Information.
Enjoy peace of mind and stop worrying about the potential damage of a faulty sump pump.
Preventing Frozen Pipes with Monnit Wireless Temperature Sensors
As we are in the thick of winter now, we are receiving a lot of calls requesting our wireless temperature and water sensors for use in both commercial and residential properties to help minimize the potential for damage due to frozen water lines.
When water freezes it expands putting pressure on pipes, valves, tubing, and hoses. The result is often costly and very time consuming to fix. In a matter of minutes a one-eighth inch crack can release 250 gallons of water and disrupt your life in ways you never imagined. It is always smart to insulate pipes that are exposed and where possible, turn off water lines and drain pipes that are not in use. However, these precautions are not always feasible and do not always work.
So, how do you ensure that your pipes don't reach freezing temperature and know if there has been a break? We recommend using Monnit's affordable wireless temperature sensors and wireless water sensors to monitor the temperatures around your water pipes and know immediately if there is a broken pipe leaking. There are no wires to worry about, and the setup process is amazingly simple. « View More Information.
Enjoy the winter holidays without worrying about the potential damage of broken water pipes.
Cool Sensor Application – Using Monnit WIT Wireless Temperature Sensors to Remove Bed Bugs
As you may know, we are seeing a lot of attention placed on bed bugs recently. Getting rid of a bed bug infestation is not an easy task. Most cases of bed bug infestation are treated using pesticides by a pest-control expert, however we are seeing an alternative to the pesticide treatment for removing these little buggers.
An alternative process to removing bed bugs, is to bring the temperature of each room up to 140°F for 3-4 hours. In order for this process to be effective it is important that every area maintains the required temperature for the given amount of time. So, how do you know that those little nooks and crannies are reaching the right temperature? We recommend using Monnit's affordable wireless temperature sensors to monitor temperatures throughout the home. There are no wires to worry about, and the setup process is amazingly simple.
Monitoring Server Room Temperature
Server rooms and data centers are full of expensive computers and networking equipment that are designed to operate within a given temperature range. General recommendations for server room temperature are 10°C (50°F) on the low side and 28°C (82°F) on the high side. In order to stay within these maximum thresholds it is recommended to keep your server room around 20-21°C (68-71°F).
Maintaining the Right Temperature
Most data centers or server rooms are built specifically for the purpose of housing computer equipment and are well insulated for temperature as well as fire precautions. They also have their own HVAC system designed to maintain the proper temperature within the room. Unfortunately these HVAC systems are not generally tied to the server system and can not determine the temperature at each specific server location. There may be areas of your server room that do not have proper ventilation, causing warm or cold areas where a server may be located. How do you know that the air conditioning unit hasn't shut down accidentally during the night or weekend when nobody is around to check?
How Can Monnit Wireless Sensors Help?
Monnit's wireless sensor networks provide a high performance, low power (and extremely low cost) alternative to similar products for monitoring server temperatures. While other units cost hundreds of dollars and are tied directly to the server location, Monnit wireless sensors start at $30 each and can be deployed anywhere in the data center giving you real time temperature readings from any location. For the same cost as a wired temperature monitoring device you can deploy multiple Monnit sensors wirelessly, covering a larger area. By the way, you can add other sensor types to your network and monitor for things like water, humidity, light and access to the server room or cabinets.
